Factors when buyin Laptop for my Course

There is a list of factors to consider when buying a laptop for college work. it will need to have a lot of memory and have high speed access to files. It should be compatible with the most recent hardware and programs.

The laptops processor is the brain of the laptop and one of the most important factors. When getting a laptop for mainly research reasons it is most important to get the highest gigabyte processor for rapid results.

Memory is also important as for my course I have a lot of notes and modules. A separate folding containing sub-folders per module and topic is needed. RAM (Random Access Memory) determines how fast the laptop is.

To help with the memory and storage a USB key can copy documents to an external source to protect against loss of data and file corruption and to maintain the level of memory on the laptop.

Battery life is also an important factor as well as weight. A laptop that is used for research need plenty of battery and must be light enough so that it can be brought anywhere. Screen size plays a role too, not only does the computer have to be technically compatable with your resasons for using it but also it has to physically fit in with your lifestyle. Smaller laptops although lighter and more mobile have smaller screens and keyboards!

Programms are essential. Some computers come with the label of space they have and programmes per-installed. This can get get confusing as it takes away from total memory and your not quite sure how much is left. Programmes such as Microsoft Word and Powerpoint programes aree essential for college research.

An OS (operating system) like Windows or Apple is crucial as no functions can be performed without an OS, the OS includes all programs that would be needed such as word, somewhere to back-up files.

Anti-virus software is a necessity for researching topics needed for my course. Entering sites to gain information and sources can lead to software being hit by hackers and viruses. Due to the amount of research and reading done on the internet it would leave the laptop quite susceptible to viruses that could ruin years of work stored on the hard drive.

Tv

Iv decided to write a blog about tv shows that take over our evenings on a yrly basis

The X FACTOR!! back again except so differnt this yr. There is no clear winner and for the most part the competition is quite tuff this year! Although, Llyod getting this far in the Xfactor has been disgraceful. He is possibly a worse singer than Jedward! itsabout time he went. I also don't understand the hype about Olly either, he is neither the best looking or the best singer! There is no need to comment on Jedward as the world has finally come to their senses!

IM A CELEBRITY GET ME OUT OF HERE!Who ever came up with with the concept of stickig a lot of celebrties in the jungle and making them eat testicles and bugs was a GENIUS! :D Eagerly waiting to see if Stuart will return to the camp after his head to head battle with Joe! Kim, Stuart, Justin (very upset Colin left!) make this show!!!

Two areas of Technology that interest me

Cyber crime is a huge interest for me. Criminals can use the internet better then some experts! Cyber crime has been taken to new levels, no longer satisfied with a simple hacking job they strive to find new ways to use the internet. Gangs of criminals use latest technology to hack into peoples lives and steal. There have been quite a few cases recently of laptops and computer files been stolen from high street banks and even websites such as hotmail. This led to a leak out of peoples address's and personal details including financial.

Recently on social networking systems such as facebook viruses, spam and hacking have reached an all time high! In Facebook's quarterly virus report it says that 'Hackers take advantage of the PC vulnerability by booby-trapping websites with a malicious code that loads on to computers'. Millions of dollars and money all over the world has been stolen from everyday computer. all the stolen money goes straight into a mules account.

Another topic of interest in tchnology is cyber-bulying! Mostly through social netwoking sites and mobiles a new era of bullying has emerged. Most teenagers are effected by it. Videos emerge on U TUBE of fights or school plays, humiliating the people involved. For an image conscious teenager these images on the net and vidoes are the ultimate worst nitemare. Bullying and exclusion on networking sites are very common. Simple things liek how many friends and views a person has can lead to a rift and result in a injured party.

Cyberbullying is a new problem facing 'one in three' teenagers compared to ten years ago when cyber-bullying hadn't surfaced. There was no oppertunity for it. It seems the more advanced we become the more ways we invent to hurt each other! bullyin ranges from prank phone calls to gangs of networking friends, most of which are girls, who tease and 'bitch' about each other!Sites such as facebook and bebo have been banned from school and colege to help this growing epidemic

Psychology!

If you have ever thought learning about the brain was borining, this is how we as sofisticated college students learn about the brain in psychology!

I also found a few websites quite useful while studying this course! The newspaper websites i found where the most useful when looking for articles to discus! I used them to find articles on ares in technology that interest me the most! heres the link :) http://www.independent.ie/

I hate Work

Working during a recession is not a pro when its in my job. on top of doing 20 or so hrs in college i am forced to do 30 or so hrs in work. retail. need i say any more!6 or 8 hrs, 5 days a week of standing around asking people would they like another size shoe, or messing up the tills so everyone has to stay late is not my idea of part-time job made in heaven. i don't even think 30hours a week is classes as part time?? it has gotten to the stage where i now read college related books or do assignments on my lunch break. which is exactly what i'm doing now.
Stuck down the bottom of this huge shop in Dundrum not seeing the weather all day or having fresh cool air (the air conditioning has been broke for 2weeks. they tired to fix it, flooded the shop. Shop closed for two hours but would ya thin they let us go home? no. house keeping for two hours (after cleaners had already been in)). Yet i am still in that same tiny square assigned to me for the last 2yrs!!! :(

The Floods Vs The Strikes

Due to collect the puppy (who after much debate we have decided to call Dakota) on Thursday coming. which happens to be the day college is on strike again. that's a pro! The only problem now is the floods which are a major con, i will literally have to drive through every single county that's literally underwater! 5 weeks has been long time to wait but don't think my little Corsa will make it all the way down and back.

Atm, we depart thursday morning at 9am!!!! 5hrs in the car (provided no traffic) collect the dog. 5hrs back. convince parents to keep the dog! while avoiding having to air lifted to safety from the car because wer being pulled out to sea by de Shannon!
